Propaganda

One of the key themes of my Health Sciences course at Queen’s, “Drug Wars and Drug Cultures” (Health 239) was the danger posed to the general population–on many fronts–by pharmaceutical corporations seeking to direct market (sic) their wares to the consuming public. Creating diseases where none before existed, taking venal problems and construing them as mortal, or claiming exceptional outcomes for using their various snake oils are merely three in a long litany of problems. My thesis was that we law-abiding citizens have more to fear from the pharmaceutical giants (whom we do need, of course, on serious occasion) than from the drug pusher and needle abuser in East Vancouver.

In other words, we are what we ingest, and we ingest a whole lot of stuff………….
