OBAMA AND McCAIN? Watch carefully…..
Please spend some time thinking carefully about how Barack Obama will organize his government. I am already convinced that he himself is thinking in Abraham Lincoln’s sense, of working to co-opt his rivals in both parties, Hillary Clinton and John McCain especially, to assist in his coming administration.
The point is that Clinton deserves it; her presence as Secretary of State will give the U.S. a far greater stature than anyone else in that position, and the only foreseeable problem is to put a muzzle, or at least a leg-guard (or chastity belt) on Clinton’s husband, former president Bill. Perhaps Obama should name him roving ambassador at large.
As for McCain, what a great way to bring moderate Republicans and independents who voted Republican into the broader progressive, but far from radical, fold. Giving McCain a portfolio would force the good side of the man to re-emerge, and, equally if not more important, would further isolate the evangelical and racist segments of the GOP.
