Subject: Wente and Wong
What a fortuitous juxtaposition of reports in Saturday's Globe and Mail! Jan Wong goes undercover along side legals and illegals, doing the kind of work middle-class Canadians signed off on years ago. Wong's assessment of being a "maid for a month" in Toronto is not only educational, but it should be required reading for those on both sides of the forty-ninth parallel who would criminalize and deport those persons who do the things that we can't or won't do. My only question, after reading Margaret Wente's account of outsourcing and downloading tasks for which she has little time and less interest, is: did Ms. Wong clean house for Ms. Wente?
